Design your own garden, on your real plot
Most garden design programs start you on a blank sheet, or on an aerial photo you have to trace yourself. SUPGARDEN starts from your address: your plot boundary and your house are there immediately, to scale. From there you simply draw what you want.
Why this works differently from a drawing program
Drawing a layout is not the hard part. The hard part is knowing how much room something takes. A hydrangea you plant today is a 30 cm ball; in five years it is a metre and a half wide. In SUPGARDEN every plant carries its mature size, so you can see on the plan whether your beds will end up touching — before you buy them.
How to go about it
1. Enter your address
Plot boundary, house and outbuildings appear to scale. You don't have to measure anything to begin.
2. Lay out the big surfaces
Terrace, driveway, lawn and beds. Pick a material and the m² appears by itself — useful when you need to know how many pavers or turf rolls to buy.
3. Choose the planting
Search by name, check sun or shade, flowering time and mature width, and click the plant onto the plan.
4. Look ahead in time
Set the slider to year 5 or year 10. Is everything still apart, or does your bed close up? You fix that now, not with a spade.
5. Take your list along
The plant list counts how many of each species you need. Take it to the nursery or the garden centre.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be able to draw?
No. You click points and the lines straighten and square themselves. If you can point out a rectangle, you can draw a terrace.
Does it work at my address?
Automatic plot import works for addresses in Flanders, Belgium. Elsewhere you draw your plot yourself on the grid — that works anywhere, you just have to measure once.
Is it usable for a balcony or a small city garden?
Yes. You can draw to 25 cm accuracy and zoom in a long way.
Can I save my plan?
Your plan stays in your own browser, even after you close the window. It isn't on another computer or phone yet — syncing is on the way.
How many plants does it know?
The library holds the species most commonly planted in temperate gardens, with their real dimensions and characteristics. It keeps growing.
